Privacy.

The short version: this site collects almost nothing, on purpose.

This website.

There are no cookies or tracking pixels, so you can read every page here without telling me anything.

Hosting. Cloudflare serves this site. Like any host, it keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the service. I see traffic only as anonymous totals.

Booking a call. The booking button takes you to a Google Calendar page. What you enter there, your name, your email, and the time you pick, goes to Google and arrives to me as a calendar booking. Google's privacy policy applies on that page.

The contact form. The form on the booking page is handled by Web3Forms, which passes the message to my inbox. It sends me your name, your email, your business name if you give it, and what you wrote. Nothing is stored on this website. I keep the correspondence, and if you ask me to delete it, I will.

Traffic counts. I use Cloudflare's cookieless analytics: page counts in aggregate, no personal profiles. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

Questions. For anything about this website, use the contact form. Questions about the Shopify apps go to the address in the apps section below.

Shopify apps.

B-Side Projects Inc., based in Calgary, Alberta, builds and runs two Shopify apps: Beaver File Organizer and Advanced Theme Preview.

The first part below applies to both. After that, each app has its own short list of what it keeps.

Both apps.

What Shopify shares at install. When you install either app, Shopify gives it your shop domain and an access token so it can work with your store. Neither app asks for customer, order or payment data, so neither one ever sees it. Billing runs through Shopify, and I never see your card details.

Where the data lives. Render hosts the apps and Supabase hosts their databases, both in the United States. Data is encrypted at rest and every connection uses HTTPS. Each message from Shopify is verified before the app acts on it.

What I don't do. I don't sell your data or use it for advertising, and neither app runs analytics or trackers.

When you uninstall. The app loses access right away and your sign-in sessions are deleted. Forty-eight hours later Shopify sends a deletion request, and I delete everything left for your store. If you want it gone sooner, ask.

Your rights. Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, delete or export the personal data I hold about you. Email inbox at b-sideprojects dot com and I'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Data outside your country. Everything is stored in the United States. For merchants in Europe or the UK, I rely on my providers' data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses for that transfer. If you need a data processing agreement for your own records, ask.

Changes. If anything here changes in a way that matters, this page and its date change first.

Beaver File Organizer.

Beaver organizes Shopify Files with tags and folders. To do that it keeps:

  • File details: names, alt text, Shopify links, file type, file size and image dimensions.
  • The IDs, titles and handles of the products, collections, pages and blog posts that use each file, so it can show where a file is used.
  • What you make in the app: tags, folders, saved filters, custom fields, file versions and the activity log.
  • Your plan, so it knows which features to show.

Staff. When you or a staff member opens Beaver, Shopify sends that person's name, email and language to sign them in. The name shows on activity entries so your team can see who started what.

AI features. When you ask for AI alt text or AI file names, Beaver sends the image link, the filename and the product's title, type, vendor and tags to Anthropic, which writes the text. Anthropic doesn't train its models on this data, and nothing goes to Anthropic unless you start it.

Background jobs. Work like the daily sync with your store runs on Trigger.dev, in the United States.

Beaver has no storefront part and collects nothing from your customers.

Advanced Theme Preview.

Advanced Theme Preview lets you share a theme with someone before it goes live. It can read your themes and nothing else in your store. It keeps:

  • Theme names and their template lists.
  • Your preview sessions, notes and template choices.
  • Preview links: the name you give each recipient, when the link expires and when it was last opened.

People who open a preview. The storefront script does nothing unless a preview is active, either from a preview link or a default preview you've turned on for a theme. When one is active, it records the page, theme and browser type of the most recent view, so you can see the preview is working. It sets no cookies. It uses the browser's own storage to remember the open preview and a few display settings.

Feedback. If someone leaves a comment on a preview, I store the comment, the name they typed and where on the page they left it, along with their screen width and browser type. A random ID saved in their browser lets the app recognise their own comments.

Load times. The app records how fast its admin pages load, using numbers Shopify provides. These go to server logs, not the database.
